Interactive blending calculators

These tools follow standard textbook assumptions: ideal gas, topping gas is air with 21% O₂, and all cylinder pressures are absolute bar (atmospheric + gauge if you work in gauge units—stay consistent with your training). Continuous-flow mode assumes the incoming mix blends uniformly with the gas already in the cylinder while you fill.

⚠️ Important: For education and classroom practice only. No warranty. Real fills require a certified blender, oxygen-clean equipment, an oxygen-compatible compressor and breathing-air supply suited to nitrox/O₂ use, correct procedures, and analyzer verification. Follow your agency manual—fill order and local rules may differ.

Hazards: Nitrox and oxygen blending involve fire and explosion risk. Getting it wrong can threaten lives and property. Blend nitrox only if you are certified as a gas blender (this course qualifies you to blend independently afterward). Always use all safety standards of the scuba diving industry and respect local laws—on every fill.

Partial pressure blending (O₂ first, then air)

Note: All equipment used must be oxygen-clean. The topping air must be oxygen-compatible.

Empty: pressure to reach with pure O₂ before topping with air to final pressure. Residual: pressure after the O₂ step before air top-off.

Enter values to calculate the O₂ step pressure.

Continuous flow blending (inlet mix)

Required O₂ fraction in the continuous fill gas so that, after filling from the start state to final pressure, the cylinder matches the target mix (simple mixing model).

Real-world note: Continuous-flow panels often need a slightly higher O₂ setpoint than this ideal figure, because of plumbing, mixing path, fill rate, and where you sample. At our station, for example, landing on EAN32 typically means dialling in around 33.5% O₂ on the blender—not because the math is wrong, but because the installation behaves that way. Always analyse every cylinder and adjust your workflow to your system.

Enter values for required inlet O₂%.

MOD (maximum operating depth)

Depth at which ambient pressure reaches your chosen maximum inspired O₂ partial pressure (freshwater / common metric approximation: 1 bar per 10 m).

Enter O₂% and max PPO₂ for MOD.
