Wreck Diver Course Koh Chang – Explore HTMS Chang
The Wreck Diver Course Koh Chang is your gateway to exploring Thailand's most spectacular underwater shipwrecks through limited penetration training. Whether you're diving the famous HTMS Chang wreck at 31 meters or the deeper Koho Maru 5 at 42 meters, this specialty course teaches you the essential skills to safely navigate and explore overhead environments while respecting the boundaries of recreational wreck diving.
Our wreck diving certification covers 3-4 training dives in the Mu Koh Chang National Marine Park, where you'll learn critical skills including wreck navigation and mapping, proper use of reels and guidelines, penetration planning using the formula (Max depth = Entry depth + Penetration distance), hazard identification in overhead environments, and safe exit procedures. Each dive is carefully structured to build your confidence in wreck environments, from external surveys to controlled limited penetration dives with direct access to open water.
At Chang Diving, our SDI, TDI, and PADI certified instructors specialize in wreck diving and overhead environment training. Training in small groups ensures you master proper reel techniques, buoyancy control in confined spaces, and emergency procedures before entering any wreck structure. Koh Chang offers ideal wreck diving conditions with the HTMS Chang (Thailand's largest deliberately sunk wreck), Koho Maru 5 (deep WW2 Japanese supply vessel), and multiple artificial reef sites—all accessible year-round with best visibility November-April. The Wreck Diver specialty is also an excellent foundation for technical diving courses like Full Cave or Trimix if you wish to pursue advanced overhead training.

Requirements
- Agency: SDI (age 18+) or PADI (age 18+)
- Prerequisite: PADI Advanced Open Water or SDI Open Water Diver
- Dives: PADI – 4 dives | SDI – 3 dives
- Duration: PADI – 2 days | SDI – 1 days
⚠️ About Limited Penetration:
Your maximum penetration distance into a wreck is limited by your
current certification depth. Example: AOWD certified (30 m) → Entry
at 25 m → Only 5 meters of penetration allowed.
